Hey guys! These past weeks I spent some time reflecting on the cover options for my magazine, “Academy Life.” You’ve already seen the final cover I chose—it’s bold, dynamic, and captures the intensity of goalkeeping really well. But before landing on that decision, I had two other photos in the running, and I’d like to share why I didn’t pick them in the end.

The first alternative photo showed me from behind, preparing for action in goal. It’s black-and-white, with a strong, intense vibe. I really liked it because it highlights the focus and anticipation we experience in matches. However, compared to my final choice, it didn’t feel as engaging or immediate. The reader doesn’t get a strong sense of action or personality, which I think is essential for a magazine cover.

The second option was similar, another black-and-white shot of me facing the field with my number visible. I felt it was visually appealing, and the composition was artistic and professional. But again, it lacked the energy and storytelling aspect that the final cover brings. While aesthetically pleasing, it didn’t tell the same story or draw readers in as quickly as the action shot I selected.

Ultimately, I went with the colorful, action-packed image because it embodies the heart of “Academy Life” perfectly—it’s exciting, it shows personality, and it’s exactly what readers would expect from a magazine going behind the scenes of academy soccer.
